Lou E. Bagels (also known as Brian Crain, BC or just simply Bagels) has had an amazing journey getting to where he is today. Hailing from St. Louis and now a LA local, the one thing he has always had along this trip was an incredible soundtrack to guide his way. From his earliest memories of listening to country music and oldies in the back seat of his parents station wagon to discovering classic rock in his pot smoking uncle’s basement. With the unveiling of MTV, glam hair bands and metal blared from his speakers until shifting with the advent of the golden era of hip-hop. This was when his passion for all things musical shifted from listening to creating when he joined forces with Bob C and DJK as an emcee to form Fat Trash. With them he had the pleasure of playing with The Sugarhill Gang, The Pharcyde, De La Soul, Nelly and countless other touring national acts both rap and rock.

After years of rocking the local scene, Bagels headed to Arizona with DJK to work in music production when the hand of fate intervened and guided him to his true love: djing. With no experience but renowned for his eclectic taste in music, he was offered a dj gig at a friend’s bar, which took off as a popular weekly. Glenn Graham was instrumental in getting Bagels out of the strictly hip hop frame of mind and helped him trace its roots back to the music that he immediately fell in love with: old school funk, R&B, soul and disco – and helped shape his wildly soulful repertoire.

Then a twist of fate sent him to Los Angeles where ‘Lou E Bagels’ was born and started rocking the west coast, melding in electronic music after a deep love was sparked from wild adventures at Burning Man.

Bagels is a lover of life and gets excited at the chance to play music for people from all walks in the hopes of getting them to move their body and forget the day-to-day problems. He is known for great selections and a great spirit. And one thing is for sure – you’ll never hear the same set twice. Although he’s comfortable playing all kinds of music, these days it mostly bass heavy funky electro breaks. Bagels is not afraid to use any or all of the music he’s collected on his journey to make you move.
